Coretta Scott King, a huge advocate for gay rights, compared lgbt rights to Black...in the, as long as one man is not free, no man is....kind of way. ...and she was passionate about this.
..and Jews certainly have suffered. Something like 3/4 of all the Jews in Eastern Europe were murdered. 90% of all the Jews in Poland were murdered.
Hitler also killed lgbt, Romany, those with mental illnesses, those with mental retardation, physically disabled. ....but mostly, he killed Jews.
..and we committed genocide against the native people. We came, we saw. We took it all. Our weapons and our nasty European diseases....genocide.
The three largest criminal money makers in the US...guns, drugs, human trafficking. The victims are mostly Black and Asian and though some is for slaves...as in laboring, most is for sex. It is 2015 and human trafficking still happens. A lot.
..and the treatment of the mentally ill is barbaric and just last week a cop killed a homeless mentally ill man...just for shit and grins...
Maybe we all need to hear each other's pain because when you are IN the pain, at that moment...no one has it worse than you. The lash on your back hurts the same for you as for anyone. We all need to LISTEN to each other's struggle.
..but right now, everyone, all these groups, are suffering at the hands of the far right but the ones...right now...being targeted, the most...Blacks, gays and immigrants.
...and anyone who uses the term "race card" is not our ally. ..and I was on a thread the other day and someone said, "you Jews need to stop using the holocaust pity card". Yup. I went off on that one...
...and we have not even mentioned the treatment of women...rape, choice, rights, etc.
The enemy is not going to treat any of us very well. We need to learn to treat each other well.
...but to me, it is so disheartening. ...This world makes me often wish I had never been born. I find the pain excruciating.
